The viral #Trashtag challenge is taking over social media these days and if you are unaware of what's it all about, here's a refresher. All you need to do to participate is clean up a public space, post pictures of before and after on the social media and nominate others.
Believed to have been started in 2015 by outdoor gear company UCO, the challenge started trending in its present avatar after one Bryon Roman, posted about it on Facebook.
"Here is a new #challenge for you bored teens. Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance, then take a photo after you have done something about, and post it" on his Facebook page last week.
Indians have been associated with the challenge since the early days. Afroz Shah, a Mumbai-based lawyer, used the hashtag to encourage folks to participate in cleaning up the dirty Versova Beach, and was bestowed the award by the United Nations. It has even spread to relatively remote cities such as Dimapur
